The battle continues..........

It all started a couple weeks ago. It was around 9:30 at night and out of the corner of my eye I see a mouse. A nasty, dirty, disgusting and dang fast little mouse. I ripped the house apart, tipped the couch over, even took out the weapons (brooms and mops), I even went outside and got the cat. The mouse ran right under her (the cat's) little nose and all the stinkin cat did was meow! I sent my hubby to the store for some mouse traps, he bought two and only one of them worked. Finally we decided to just go to bed.

Well it had been like two weeks, and we hadn't seen the pesky little creature so I thought we were ok. Nope.............I was wrong. A couple of days ago I was in the computer room blogging and all the sudden I hear my husband yelling. Yep, the mouse was back. So off he went to go buy some more mouse traps.

Today, finally we caught something..............it was a little bigger then we expected. He was sure cute though, I almost hated to get ride of him!

Just so you don't all think I'm a horrible mother, this was one of those sticky traps that the mouse gets stuck on (a little mean if you ask me, but it's what the hubby bought). I had the trap behind the Television where I thought the kids wouldn't be able to get to it, I was wrong!

So the battle to find the mouse continues, any advice???

That is funny! I hate mice. We got one a few years ago and the cat went crazy trying to get to where it was. We got the spring loaded trap and baited with peanut butter.

Oh no poor little guy:-)!!!! Mice can drive you nuts. A few years ago they nested under our dishwasher..YUCK!
Since then I do not know how they find themselves in to my store room but that is they place they seem to want to go.
I hope your little one is okay. It will be a story and memory forever:)

I gasped! Then, I saw it was the sticky one... :) I don't have any advise except maybe an outside cat... they are better predators than the inside ones...

Yechh. I had a mouse in a house once and before that I didn't mind them. Now I hate and am terrified of them. I seriously threw away everything that thing came in contact with and cleaned the house with something so strong I had to wear a mask.
We finally caught it with a mean killing trap with cheese and peanut butter.
I hate those- I hate killing them but they carry disease so there is really not much choice. The one we had was pretty smart. It would eat the cheese off of it without setting off the trap and wouldn't go near the ones that trap them inside alive or sticky ones. The peanut butter is what did it.

What a cute mouse!:-) If you think you're a bad mommy, heck, I actually caught Sam's toe in his footie pajamas with a spring loaded one while Tony was in law school!! I felt horrible. But we hid it better and eventually, we got the mouse.

My parents always used peanut butter on traps. They lived by a field and had a wood pile that the mice liked. Luckily we only had mice in the first home we built. We used D'con but quickly found out that stuff is so gross to clean up after as the mice leave blood all over when they die. Apparently it makes them hemorrhage from the inside out, ICK! Good luck. I hope you catch the smaller, less cute, mouse soon.

We recently had one in the basement...yuck! I put out the traps that looks like a circle and when they go in the door flips shut and traps them inside. You never have to see the mouse. We used peanut butter as the bait. I caught the little sucker the first night. Good luck!

Ha! Lucky you! One of these days I'll have to tell you about our Christmas Day adventures with a huge black rat!!

Good luck with Mickey!

I'm an expert on trapping mice. Living in an old neighborhood and in an old house we had lots of them. You need to get the snapping kind. Those sticky ones are cruel. The mouse gets stuck and then gets all wrapped up in the dang thing. It's hideous and sometimes they're still alive and then what do you do with them? The snapping kind at least is a swift death. I think I'd keep the cute one you caught. Have a wonderful 2009. Mimi

We have a mouse story, too! When we lived on base years ago the housing was built on old corn fields. I remember being up late one night when my hubby was working nights and seeing a mouse on a moose Christmas thing. I called him at work and all I could yell was, 'There's a mouse on the moose, a mouse on the moose'. Needless to say, he thought I had lost my mind!
We eventually caught the pesky gusy with the spring load type of traps.
Good luck chicadee!
Merry 2009!!!

Ooh--at first I felt so bad for him because I thought his toes had been snapped! Wouldn't that have been horrible?!! Poor baby. I say go for the box ones and use the peanut butter. Maybe you'll have to put them out at night when the kids are in bed. Yuck. I'm glad we didnt' see it tonight. No wonder you were chekcing your blog while I was gone for TEN MINUTES. ;)

Nothing worse than a mouse and I hate to tell you this but I always heard they come in TWOS!! We have one at work right now. I haven't seen it but my boss has and I'm hoping the poison got him. We have traps set too. We have had a couple in the house over the years. We live by an open field and when it get cold they like to come inside. We have 2 cats and one of them is like yours but the other one is a mouser. All you can do is set the trap and pray they come. Good luck :o)

I definatly have some advice!! My father-in-law uses this to catch mice in his shed and he catches like seven at a time. K, here's what you do:

Get a 5 gallon bucket, a scoop of peanut butter, and clear packing tape. Stretch the tape very lightly across the opening of the bucket. You need it to support the pb - so not too much pb. Dab your pb on the tape. Set bucket in an area of the house (like kitchen) and set a ramp up to the edge of the bucket - like a stick or something. The mouse runs up the stick and onto the tape that eventually falls into the bucket bc it can't support the weight of the mouse. It's harmless and safe. Just release the mouse far away from your house. My fil wants to patent this idea he likes it so much. I hope it works for you! And be sure that big-little mouse doesn't get caught again! Poor guy!

Good luck and keep us posted!

P.S. I would stay away from poison bc they can eat it and crawl into your woodwork or some obscure place to die. The smell....i'll leave it at that.

Oh no! I am terrified of mice so I would have been up on a chair directing my husband where to search! My mom usually gets a few in her house each winter. She uses the spring loaded traps with PB, as other people have suggested.

I don't understand why creatures have to come into our homes. They have the whole outdoors...all I have is my house. I hate mice...and I hate to say, but the saying I always heard is...you never have A mouse. Peanut butter is the best...and I say...he chose to come in, so whatever happens to him...Happens!!

Nicole, this summer we found a rat snacking on the old drippings in our BBQ grill. I went to the hardware store to get a rat trap and as soon as the clerk saw it she said, "Oh, you have a rat. No, you have two rats. Where there's one there's another." She said she liked to use a little piece of bacon and wrap in around the little bait thing. She also said that after we catch the first rat (happened within 15 minutes of setting the trap) that we needed to soak the trap in salt water to get rid of the blood smell because that would deter the other one from coming near the trap. We had less success with the second one. It's nose got nicked in the trap but it didn't get caught. It wandered into the neighbor's yard and we haven't seen it since.

Good luck with your mouse hunt. I was dealing with 3 inch long roaches the other day--and yes, it was a pair of them. Nasty!

Im with Julie...I would sugest peanut butter! So sorry about catching the kid...did you ever get that gunk off?

You always think there is JUST one or two but there are tons. Call pest control...they will give you little packets of poison. Sounds terrible but before you know it there will be mouse poop in your clothes and they're renovating the walls. I never had a problem after the using the poison.

Poor little guy. :-(

Eeewww. I hate mice. I agree with all the previous posts - use peanut butter. Good luck getting it out of your house.

Oh how I hate mice! We had a mouse problem about a year and a half ago. We set so many traps I lost count! In the end, we called an exterminator. We also found out where they were coming into the house and plugged all those holes with steel wool. Good luck!

Oh no! That is so funny!! Poor little guy-he does not look happy at all! :)

Another vote for peanut butter. We had a mouse a couple of years ago that brought her little ones along. We got the traps that snap shut and slathered them with peanut butter. It took no time before they were all caught.
Good luck!

OMgosh!!! That is so funny...thank goodness it wasn't a trap he could have gotten really hurt with. That picture is a must to scrapbook! Good luck finding the real mouse!

Jessica said...

We had a pesky visitor, too. I bought those sticky traps for the same reason you pictured...I didn't want my little one to get snapped up, but stuck on didn't seem quite so bad. Good luck fighting!

Diane said...

God Bless you! I thought it was one of those snapping traps. :) No idea about the mouse though. I only know what I would do, and it is very impractical, but I'd move.

LOL

HOpe you catch it really soon.

That sticky trap on the foot is priceless.

I use both the sticky and the reg traps. You have to have the good sticky traps or they don't work. Oh and I buy 20. I don't use just a few, I HATE mice and want it gone for sure.

My sister had a funny post about her mouse, read the comments, they were just as good.

We had mice in our other house. Drove me nuts. We used that poison they eat to get them. Seemed to work for us. Good luck!

yikes! My daughter saw one last night so off I went for traps today. I got one that doesn't kill them and 4 that will. I don't "do" the snappy ones alone, that will wait till tonight when DH gets home! Ugh! I don't find any mousey poo though.
