The pincushion craze!

It seems like everywhere lately I'm seeing the cutest little pincushions. This month I have four friends having birthdays so I thought it would be the perfect time to give one a try! There are some way cute patterns out there that I'm too cheap to buy, although these ones are still really tempting me. Here is the pincushion I came up with. At a really cute store here in Utah they had all of their's filled with rice. Usually I've seen them with filled with batting, but I thought the rice was nice because It stayed in place better!

Are you getting sick of this fabric yet? I still have lots of fabric left over from this bag I made forever ago. I'll be putting some of these pincushions in my etsy shop later today (after I get the kids of to school)! Watch for them if your interested. They would make great mothers day gifts, hint, hint! I'll even wrap it up for you really cute!

I hope everyone isn't getting sick of my sewing posts, my next one is a craft with paper for those of you who don't sew! Have a great day!

I copied Her again!

Well, I'm at it again. Copying more things from cute Tiffanys house. Good thing she doesn't have a blog or I might kinda freak her out. But hey, when you see a good idea, it would be just plain crazy not to copy it. When I saw this cute table topper, I knew I needed to give one a try. Don't you just love how she put the gingerbread house in the middle under that glass dome lid!

So here is my version of Tiffanys table topper. It probably looks Christmasy but it's for everyday. I'm lucky to have a good friend that's an incredible quilter too. If you click on the picture you can see her quilting a little better.

I used the Peace on Earth fabric by Moda. I know Christmas, but I liked the colors. And there are about 30 other fabrics in the Peace on Earth line I'd love to have too!

I had a lot of fabric left over so I made this table runner. I still have more fabric, so maybe I'll make some for my etsy shop.

I've been really bad at checking out all of your cute blogs this week. We have been painting and tileing and my house looks like a bomb when off. Hopefully next week things will slow down a little and I can get back to my normal blogging routine :) !

I'm in Love with this House!!!

There is a house in my neighborhood that I've always admired. It was built in the early 1800's and is absolutely beautiful. It is cute and cozy and all the things I love about a home. I was so excited when Mimi Sue set up a home tour and this house was on the tour! The people who now own the house have done such an incredible job of restoring it.

This first room is the front room. It is also part of the original house. The current owners have added onto the house, and made it at least twice the size of the original house.

The neat thing about the current owners is that the history of this home means so much to them. You can tell that they just love telling stories about this beautiful home. Isn't this bathroom cute? EVERYTHING in this home is decorated perfectly, and as true to the period that is was built in as possible.
I love this room. I wish I could have gotten more pictures, I found myself deleting family pictures trying to get more pictures of this incredible home! One of the neat things the owners told us about was that Eliza R. Snow was know to stay here if she was coming through and needed a place to stay!

This pictures shows the original adobe brick used to construct the house.
Another beautiful room in the original part of the house.

This is the upstairs of the house, and this is the cute little playroom for their grandchildren. All the furniture is tiny and perfect size for children! Off of this playroom is a cute little bedroom.

I love the cute little windows.

This is the Master Bathroom and it is in the addition that they built on. Wouldn't you just love to sit and soak and read a book in that tub!

And here is the Master bedroom!

This home was so incredible, I wish so bad that I could have gotten more pictures, there is so much more to see. Maybe one of these times I'll have to ask the owners if they would ever give me a little private tour! The outside of the home is also beautiful. In the summer they do a lot of wedding receptions there. I'll have to go on a walk and take some pictures of the outside of it.

Shabby Princess Valentines

One of my favorite digital scrap booking sites Shabby Princess had the cutest valentines! I had already bought valentines for my daughters class, but when I saw these I really wanted to give them a try. They have all sorts of fun stuff, candy bar wrappers, bag toppers, treat tents and lollipop covers!

I decided to do the lollipop covers for my daughters class! They were really simple. I just downloaded them, and then took it to Staples to have them printed. They had a glossy card stock on sale for like 60 cents a sheet and I was able to fit I think five on a sheet in Photoshop!

I made the candy bar wrappers for the ladies I visit teach and for my kids teachers! Just a hint, if you decide to make these, they don't wrap candy bars in tinfoil anymore, unless you buy the king size ones that I was too cheap for. I ended up wrapping the wrapped candy bars in tin foil, and then the shabby princess wrapper.

It was fun to do something a little different and more personalized this year for Valentines.

I'll be buying two more candy bars since my chocolate cravings got the better of me. Next year I'll learn to buy the candy bars until just before Valentines!

A little Valentine

Don't worry! I'm not going to show the scary monkeys face. I just had to show you, I made something to go with her, something........not so scary!
I decided to make my daughter a valentines shirt. I drove myself over to Walmart and found this plain white one for $3!

I used wonder under to applique them and and then sewed around the letters!

It's not perfect, but it'll do! It was so fun to make, I even made one for my two nieces!

A night out with old friends!!!

Thursday night me and some old Snow college roommates got together at Olive Garden. It was so good to see everyone. It was so fun to get together and talk about our "college days." I can't believe it's been over ten years. We had some really great and crazy times together.

Belinda, Tori, Christy, Heather, Sara and Anna, it was soooooooo good to see all of you again! You all look incredible, even better than our college days. Heather, thank you so much for setting this all up and Tori, I owe you lunch!
