A Perfect Day for a Parade!

I have to say I'm usually not a big fan of parades. When someone says parade I usually think of way hot weather, Salt Water Taffy melted all over everything, and BIG crowds. I have to say though that today we went to our city's parade and it was perfect. It was a little over cast so it wasn't to hot. And, for the first time in my life that I can remember we actually got my dad to come to the parade also. My mom came too, but we can usually talk her into things easier than we can my dad.
We had a great time and even managed to haul our butt's out of there before the water parade began, except for my daughter and hubby who wanted to get wet!
Here are the kiddos before the parade.
My kids and their cute cousins.

Just the girls (in their designer t-shirts).

Waiting sooooo patiently for someone to throw them some candy.

Sorry it's so blurry (anyone know how to fix that in photo shop?), but it's still a cute picture of my Dad and the little guy!

He's so excited that he caught a stuffed animal!

Love this picture!

Here they are after the parade showing off all their goodies!

The 4th of July pennant garland that I made last year!

Gotta love it when you find cute fabric and Wal Mart!

I think ladder back chairs make anything look cute!

This is the cute little pillow that I won last year from Amber over at the
Mcillece spot.

I hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July. Especially all those who have sacrificed so much for out freedom, THANK YOU!!!

  2. Hey, thanks for saying that I'm a better sport than your Dad, I've always been a little more fun. Really, he just hates battling crowds. Anyway Grandkids will make you do alot of things out of the ordinary. The weather was perfect, the kids were adorable, not to mention the shirts! We had fun, thanks for talking him into it.

  3. Wonderful pictures!! The kids are so cute! My mom used to dress my sister and I alike too - hated it. Oh well.
I think the best part about going to a parade is meeting people you only see once/twice a year. Though the candy isn't bad either. LOL

  4. I love that your porch is that deep. Mine's quite narrow and I can only fit the two chairs on (barely). Everyone looked so cute! The weather was perfect up north too. Not to hot, not too cold. I worked all day so it made for a nice day for me.

  5. Nicole, I didn't know how to do it either. I showed her the list of classes coming up and she picked out the pattern and all the fabric. It's way more busy than I normally would have done but it grew on me. I had to sign up and take a class to learn how to do it. It's not nearly as hard as it looks. Actually it was pretty easy, just don't look to close at the points bz they don't always match up the best but I don't think it's too bad for a first time. It wouldn't be my quilting technique of choice for now but maybe later as I get better. I took that quilting class for my machine so for awhile I'm going to be doing smaller things like table runners, toppers, etc. I have a quilt and two table toppers that has now been at the quilter's nine months. I'm a bit frustrated. She's good but I think she's just getting too busy and overloaded. Wasn't you who took the quilting class at Bernina in Roy or somewhere? I definitely need much practice but I loved doing it! Cindy
