More Window Mistreatments!

I don't know if these actually can be considered Mistreatment's or not since I did use the sewing machine. They are very easy though. They probably should actually go under the category It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

I made these for my little boys room when we first bought our home. I had some left over fabric from some bumper cushions. If I were going to do these again, I would not put so many tabs on them.




A good rule of thumb when your trying to decide how much fabric to use is 1 1/2 - 2 times the width of your window and then just however long you want them to be. I promise I didn't just make that up, I worked in a few fabric stores in High School and College. I always like to hang my window treatments high because I really don't like the window to show through at the top. It also makes the window look bigger.

I did the same thing in my kitchen bay window. For this window I used some tea towels. They worked really good because the fabric is a little heaver than normal fabric. I did double up the tea towels though, it just looked better.

If I were to do these again I would have make them a little longer, but oh well. The treatments on the side were really easy. I just sewed two towels together and made a casing at the top and bottom for a rod to go through. Then I just tied a piece of ribbon around the middle.

These side treatments were desperately needed. This window is in the front of our house and right next to the front porch and front door. I felt like everyone who came to the front door could see right into our kitchen, which I didn't like days that I didn't get ready until noon.
