The nester was right when she said that these take a lot of fabric, mine isn't very big and it took about 5 yards of ribbon and 1 yard of fabric. I think I could have easily used 2 yards, and squished it all closer together so it was more full, but I was too lazy to go and buy more.
I bought the M from Hobby Lobby for 99 cents, and painted it Blue. Then I sanded and stained the edges to give it that distressed look. My hubby drilled a hole in it so I could hang it from the ribbon.
I hung it my favorite way to hang everything. With knobs from Home Depot.
And ta da, here it is........
It really was a lot of fun to make, I'd like to make one for my daughters room now. Just a hint, my sister made hers out of remnants of drapery fabric. I think it worked a little better, the stiffer fabric made it look a little more full.
Nicole, will you please come help me decorate my house? I've asked several friends to come help but they must not think I'm serious. If only they knew how serious I am. Did you know that I've lived here six months and my walls are STILL bare. Yep. military housing white walls with not a thing on them.... I'm desperate!!!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out way cute and the M is a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteWho's Leann? I'll help her decorate--let me come with you, N.
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo cute.... I so wish I had a craft store around here to make something fun! THank you for your well wishes & for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I love the idea of using knobs. I always complicate things and run to PB to buy the expensive picture knobs! Now that I think about it, isn't it really the same thing...just a whole lot cheaper?! Thanks for the great tip!
ReplyDeleteI've been to The Village Quilt Shop with my MIL. It was great. Actually, all of Gardner Village was fun. It reminds me of Mystic Village in CT.
I agree with the time and cost of making a quilt. All of my chick-a-dee's quilts are purchased. I love them and don't feel guilty at all! :)
I really like the colors you used in your garland... I still have yet to make one of these. Good job!!!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I'll definately be back.
Adorable! I love the star above the garland as well. I created a garland after visiting The Nesting Place. However, it hangs on the wall with nothing above it. I keep thinking...it needs something and now that I have seen your star, it opens up so many possibilities! Now ... where to find the star ... smile!!

That turned out so cute! I love it. The colors look great with your quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis looks really cute! It turned out great. I love how you have it hung up too!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I made one to match my kitchen but it doesn't work where I wanted to put it. I was so disappointed! I did buy the fabrics to make one for above my daughter's bed--I need to get on that project!

Very cute!
ReplyDeleteI love love it! How creative of you! It looks great with the star above the bed. Not too much decor for a boy. Works and looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteTell me the secrets of digital. Did you just learn it. Did someone teach you. What sites do you like. HOw long does it take to do a page. How much does it cost to print the pages.
Ok-so did I ask enough questions?
I love the flowers. I am so jealous of your hostas!!
That turned out very well. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great I love it! I just bought those very knobs at Home Depot yesterday for my bathroom cabinets. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.... No pressure!

Love it, Love it, Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have been wanting to make one too! I think I will! What happened with your digital scrapbook? Looking forward to more! Love your blog! I want one! Julie
ReplyDeleteThat turned out cute!! Your litte guy is lucky to have such a cute room. Several years ago we made wreaths like this -- you just tie the fabric & ribbon to a vine wreath. With all the fun new colors and fabrics & stuff I just might have to try one again!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I think your ragamuffin turned out great. The colors are so warm and rich.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
