Who reads this blog anyways???

Today while I was trying to think up a blog post I got thinking, I don't really LOVE blogging like I used to a couple years ago before I had baby #4 and we decided to move and build a house, and piano lessons, and soccer and preschool and activity days and primary song leader and flute choir and homework (you get the point) life just got crazy.

So I got thinking?  Why don't I enjoy blogging like I used to.  I think I've figured it out.  I don't really know who reads this blog.  I mean, of course there is my mom and some family and friends and a few of you who stuck it out though my lazy blogging period - thank you.   But for me the fun part about blogging is making friends.  And for the most part I have no idea who reads this blog.

Are you still with me or have I bored you to tears?  I thought maybe I'd tell you a few quirky things about me and maybe you could leave me a comment telling me something quirky or interesting about you.

Here is goes............

I HATE doing my hair.  Most days it doesn't get done until the afternoon.  Most people would probably recognize me better with a towel on my head then with my hair done.

I'm a member of a very elite group called the BBC.  Totally KIDDING about he elite part. BBC stands for something - I just can't remember what.  A group of women that live by me get together once a month and we watch BBC movies.  It just started last month and now I really want to find every episode of Lark Rise to Candleford.  Here is a picture of all the fun goodies a few of the girls made last month.

I studied music in college, but I really wanted to go to culinary school.  One my my favorite things on Saturdays is to watch cooking shows - I told you I was weird.

Ok, now it's your turn.  I would really love it if you would  leave me a comment telling me a little bit about yourself.  Mom,  and friends who stuck it out - you better leave a comment too :)

  1. Hi Friend! I have no idea how I found your blog...must have been a crafty link or something, but you are in my google reader and I get your updates. Weird, huh?

I am a mom of two children who are 11 and 7. You know what? I went to school for music as well, and guess what I wanted to go for???? Culinary arts! No joke! Instead I went for performing arts.

Let's see...we are a homeschooling family and I love getting my craft on. I don't often blog about craftiness though, maybe I should. :)

So...anyhow...I just wanted to say hello and tell you that you have a reader in Florida.

  2. I'm still here, and I love knowing what you and your family are up to.

I also HATE doing my hair.

I love watching the show Sister Wives, and Hoarders, and I didn't know I was pregnant. Since I don't have TLC I watch them online for free when I can, or *gasp* pay for them on amazon.

I'm not into fantasy. I've never seen Star Wars or Harry Potter.

My degree is in professional preschool education, and even though I don't ever want to have my own preschool, I would do the whole program again in a second just for the things I learned. If I ever go back to school it will be in graphic design.

  3. Hm, I don't know how I originally found you either, but you pop up in my Google Reader, too!

I have one baby, an almost 11-month old boy. I stay at home with him while my husband is finishing up med school (just a few more months! FINALLY!). I want a hundred more babies, he wants maybe 2. We're working on it =)

I don't have a blog, but I kind of am thinking about it. I sure read enough of them, it's my turn to contribute.

  5. Hi! I'm not sure how I came across your blog, but I too have 4 children, so maybe that's what caught my eye.
I teach special ed full time, and that combined with my family leaves me little time for crafting and home decorating, which I love.
I have a blog, but I haven't updated it since my 3rd baby was born... and she's 18 months old now :(
I may not leave many comments, but I'm always reading!!!

  6. Hi, I still read your blog when you post (I might miss one occasionally when I am really busy.)

I cut my own hair most of the time. I hate paying someone to cut it when I usually come home and have to cut off the pieces they missed. (Sheesh- what happened to quality and precision in a haircut?)

I love BBC sitcoms. (British Broadcasting Corporation) I got hooked on Are You Being Served years ago -I just recently found "Bless Me Father" and started watching it.

  7. I don't remember why I started following your blog. But I do. I have grown kids two precious granddaughters who live too far away. But yay, they are coming for Thanksgiving! I am excited about that. I don't like to fuss with my hair either, so an easy wash and go haircut is what I go with.

I am a liberal arts major. Then I went back to school to get my A.S. in Occupational Therapy Assistant program. And that is what I do now.

I also enjoy BBC shows too, like Are you being served? and As Time Goes By and so on.

I have two blogs, a craft one and a regular one with everything else.

  8. I love interaction too! Writing a blog without receiving comments feels like you're writing for no one.

I'm guilty as charged! I don't always leave comments. I'm trying to change that though because I want people to know that their writing is worth reading; their time is as precious as mine.

Quarky! Haha - when I was in college, I changed majors more than I changed underwear! (Not really, but it was a lot!) There were so many avenues I wanted to explore, yet I could never settle on one. So, I'm exploring life with God, life with my family, life with homeschooling, and some photography, crafting, sewing, and a few other hobbies that I never have enough time for.

Great post! Hope to hear more from you. :)

  9. I cannot remember how I found your blog, but I am still here and do enjoy reading when you post....

I am a mom of three now grown children ages 34, 21, and 19...the younger two still at home....I homeschooled them all and the last one graduated 2yrs. ago which left a big gap in my life.....

I love crazy quilting and sane quilting along with crochet and learning to tat...

I enjoy my flower gardens and the flowers when in bloom...I am in process of gathering items for a fairy garden for my almost 1yr. old granddaughter....

Oh and I love to cook! At one point I wanted to go to culinary school but never went in that direction....so I just cook fabulous food for my family and anyone who might be around for dinner.....

Anyhow, you have a reader from Alabama and I have enjoyed our little chat.....

  12. I am a follower so I read your posts in Google Reader. I'm not sure how long I've been a follower, or how I even got here, but here I am!

I live in Idaho with my husband of 7 years and our 2 boys ages 5 and 3. I love all things crafty, but generally spend my time making quilt tops (I could say quilting, but I've really not quilted that many quilts). I work part time as a CNA and I also do Pampered Chef parties very sporadically for fun.

  14. Well hello. I read your blog too! I think blogging is something we have to enjoy or it can become a chore. Don't stress about HAVING to post. We just enjoy it when you do.

  15. Hi Nicole!
I am still here! I love reading about what you have been up to! You are so crafty and so very talented. I think everyone's lives are more interesting than my own. I feel like I am a pretty boring person. :)
I went to school to become a dental hygienist but I too also wished I could have gone to cooking school or Something to do with food. I love watching food network shows and could spend hours doing so! I find that I too am getting burned out or something with blogging. I haven't figured out what my deal is. I haven't blogged on my cooking blog for over a month. Yikes. One day I will go back... Maybe. For now, I feel like I am doing good to keep up my family blog. Don't give up on blogging. I love to see what you have been up to!

  16. Hey Nicole! I Love reading your blog and keeping up with you! I'll never forget that summer we went to girls camp together (as the leaders)!
Quirky things:...HMMMM, I think I am just quirky all together.
One thing I am famous for is always starting new hobbies...I purchase all the items to do it, do it for a month or so, then lose interest.
Another thing that some may think is wierd, I like to play Webkinz online. I earn my kids their webkinz cash so they can buy stuff for their pets!

  17. Hey Nicole, I met you in college when you were my first cousin once removed's roommate. I had a blast with you guys as an honorary roommate. Fun memories. Even though we know each other, I thought I'd share some things with you....

My DH is in the Navy (did you know that?) We have four kids. I go through crafting spurts. When I was younger, I was into quilting... then moved onto scrapbooking... then onto cardmaking... and now I'm into sewing. I don't like quilting so much because I hate the precision required for straight, even lines, but I just melt when I see a vintage quilt, all bumpy from washing and use over time. I'm practically a pro at sewing pajama shorts for my kids but I'm starting to expand my horizons by using different patterns to sew cute things for my girls. I collect sheets (not necessarily vintage) because the possibilities are endless. I save everything. Looking at my craft room, I joke that I'm 15 dead cats away from being an episode of hoarders.

ha ha ha Remember our date playing tennis with Corwin and that guy I dated for a while? Funny stuff.

  18. I have no idea how I ran across your blog, but I bookmarked you a while back and have been visiting ever since. I am a homeschooling mom of 3 boys (5, 3, and 6 mo) and my husband is finishing up his last 2 years in the Air Force before retirement. Your BBC totally made me laugh. I absolutely love BBC and Larkrise to Candleford is my favorite!!! Wish I had a BBC club to be a part of. =)

  19. I guess I started following you when I stumbled across cute things on your blog! And I like to follow LDS bloggers. I have seven daughters ranging in age from 2-19. I'm trying to find a balance between creating the crafts I love and blogging about them, and keeping up with my family. Also always looking for future wedding ideas - gonna have a few of those coming up!!! And as for hair, I do it on Sunday - pony tail for the rest of the week!!! And we're in the middle of building a house right now too. I'd love you to check me out at yearningtocreate.blogspot.com

  20. Hi from Washington state, I don't remember how I found you or why I started reading, but you are still in my Google reader after several "cuts" were made in recent months. :)

SAHM to two kids and a new puppy named Rooster.

Married for almost ten years...planning an anniversary trip to Hawaii!

I can twist my hair around itself and tie it in a knot, when a hairband isn't handy, and I want it off my neck.

  21. Hi Nicole,
I'm a recent follower. I just started my life as a stay at home wife and soon to be mom so I found other blogs of Christian stay at home moms to follow and take advice from.
I blog about my crafts and recipes and fun things I find to share. I also rant a little about life.

I, on the other hand, did go to culinary school. Dropped out when I found it to be too much stress and the restaurant business to be a bad environment for a, then, 18 yr old wholesome christian girl.

I love food. My guilty pleasure is cookie dough and I recently found an eggless, safe to eat when pregnant recipe.
    (It's 7:30 a.m. and I've already broken it open)

About me: Christian, 27, newly married to a Catholic, nearly 6 months pregnant, a crafter.

  22. Hello out there! yes I'm still here. I guess I'm in a blogging rutt myself. I read and don't very often comment. Oh I mean too.....lol
    I love BBC.
    Who dosen't?
    Now there's another blog post!
I don't like city living, but LOVE to shop. And I've passed that love to my daughters! I LOVE Christmas time, but do NOT love snow!
I have been raising kids for the last 31 years! Yes, that IS a long time. Our last little baby chick is nigh onto turning 15. He is the only child a home, and I think it's hard raising one child alone. I am by trade, a beautician, but wish I would have gone to school to become an anthropologist!
I LOVE history, and historicial handsewng is my passion!
(maybe it's a sickness...) i'm weird I know! I'm the cub master for our ward, and I love to indulge in singing silly songs.
We live on a Homestead ranch called cliffside, in eastern Utah. We are the third generation in my husbands family to live here in the stone house.
I love having cows for neighbors, and find pleasure in the song of the Coyote.
I'm the mom of 6 little chicks, and Granna to 8
I am so hooked on blogs, and I think I'm fast becoming a fan of pinterest, but I have no use for Facebook, and unlike my daughters and daughters in law, I am NOT in love with Edward Cullin! And whats more, I don't even like Bella! There, now you know! LOL
(The Mr is all for team Charlie, cuz it really is a bummer to be left out of the loop! )
I enjoy reading your posts. Keep them up......and I'll try to be a better follower!
    Enjoy your day
    Mercy

  23. I follow so many blogs that I don't usually remember how I find them!
I am a 40 something mom of four: 18, 21, 22, 24. I have a son and daughter-in-law and the cutest one year old grand-daughter who brings sunshine to our lives!
My youngest (a senior in high school) is high-functioning autistic and we try to help him stay happy and healthy (we take him gold panning---feeding his obsession and we just try to keep up with him). Our oldest started having seizures months ago and we are trying to keep her healthy and happy too.
I'm an RN but I am luckily not working now and get to stay home with the two kids we still have at home (I sometimes get to play during the day and I am so very grateful).
We live in beautiful Northern Utah right now, I grew up in Northern California and we lived in Florida for 5 years.
Our hands and hearts are full. I try to throw in creative projects, read occasionally, I love watching movies and I try to exercise (among other things) to keep me sane (or at least functionally sane).

  25. I've had you on my blog Reader for ages, even before baby #4. I've gotten to where there are so many blogs that I read and get inspired by, that I get lazy about commenting because of the time committment. Not good I know. I've gotten lazy about my blog as well, and I have been blogging since 2005. Mostly do it for myself and my family as a digital scrapbook of sorts and then thanks to facebook, I put so much on there that I feel like I'm repeating myself sometimes on my blog or that no one reads it.

I too love cooking shows, like to cook, hate to clean the mess up afterwards, and most of all LOVE to eat. Now that 40 is around the corner, my metablolism is starting to slow down so I'm a little more careful about what I eat. Notice I say a *little*. :)

  26. You have a reader in Kingston, Ontario, Canada!

I've followed your blog for years ... I think I came across your site because it was linked up from somewhere else (probably for a crafty post!)

Anyways, I'm a teacher, a mother of two, a wife, and a crafter in my hard-to-find spare time.

Something strange or unique about me. I love reading - a wide variety of genres - just finished reading a science fiction book for my book club. It's called Robopocalypse - have you read it? It was, surprisingly, amazing!

  27. A friend turned me onto your blog and I enjoy it very much. I'm not one of those people who follows hundred of blogs, so you are a lucky one:)
I don't have kids at home anymore...they are all married and grown with kids of their own. But, I like that even better because now we have 6 beautiful grand-daughters and it's AWESOME being a grammy.
I am totally addicted to sewing, especially since all my kids have left home.
I am the president of a mostly male dominated business, but I don't really spend much time at work because I pay an awesome assistant and have a great manager who mostly run the show.
You have many 'friends' out here in blog-land!

  28. I wonder that too sometimes :) But I read your blog and think you are wonderful!

Something weird about me...hmmm. Where do I begin? I would much rather buy fabric or home decor than clothes. I have naturally curly hair that I usually straighten and my guilty pleasure is the show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

I got a question for ya though. I'm going to email you right now!

    Take care,
    Amber

  29. I found your blog from your Moda Bake Shop tutorial. I have 7 children, from 10.5 to 2 months, 4 boys, 3 girls. I homeschool the eldest 4 and my husband and I own a catering business (he's a chef and I used to be).

    * I HATE cooking breakfast, but I love to eat it! * When I talk on the phone, I am usually walking around. * I haven't worn any make up for over 10 years. * I have to eat a wheat free diet and I dislike it immensely!

I also love to quilt, do crafty things, sew garments, bake, cook with my husband, and I'm in the middle of painting 3 rooms while making 2 quilts for people and daily homeschooling our children (along with everything else that comes with managing a family of 9). All before Thanksgiving. I'm not only quirky I'm crazy!!

  30. I'm still here, too, Nicole. :)
I was so happy when we first "met" through blogland. Imagine my surprise when we figured out that I once babysat you and your twin sister! You were such cute and well behaved little ones!

    Well, about me.....
I am a mom of 4 kids, (ages 25, 22, 22 and 18) but only one is left at home. My oldest son and his wife just had the cutest baby boy! Being a Grandma is awesome! All of my kids live in UT except the youngest, but she wants to go as soon as she graduates in May. I really don't know what I will do with myself when I live in an empty nest, but I suppose I will figure that out soon enough.

My first declared college major was Home Economics. I wanted to teach high school home ec. That changed when a class I needed was full and I took an early childhood education class. I changed my major and the rest is history. I have had my own preschool for about 15 yrs. now.

I love to sing. I can play the flute. I love music. It speaks to my soul and moves me more than any other written word.

I love to hear my children sing.

I haaaate that I have to watch my weight because I love to eat yummy food.

I love my Heavenly Father. I make an effort to see His hand in all things. He has blessed me more than I can ever thank him for.

ANyway..give those little kiddos a hug and don't worry so much about keeping the blog up. It will wait-the kids wont. :)

  31. I started following your blog several years ago by accident - when I loved your kitchen pictures!

I am a Mom of 2 kids: 6 1/2 and 5. I am a veterinarian 2 days a week. I wanted to be a vet before I wanted to be married or have children - but now it isn't the priority! :)

You still have a reader and friend in Alabama.

  33. HI, I just found your blog today actually and I think that you and your family are adorable. I was just put into the primary at our church and have been looking for cute little kid activities and that's how I found your blog. I can't wait to learn more.

  34. HI! I still peek in once in a while...yet I too have been a very lazy blogger...Life seems to have taken off FASTER than when I had 4 teenagers at home, was stake RS pres and my husband always out of town on church assignments, and when home was busy in the Bishopric. I don't seem to be able to keep up any more!
I wish I could go back savor those hectic but wonderful times because at least then I could make everything happen!:)
I am a mom of 3 sons, RM's which all are now doctors since May when our last one graduated from Dental school and has joined his youngest brother in a practice in Colorado. Our other one lives in Boise.
I have a wonderful daughter (homesweethideaway.blogspot.com) who is much like you are, BUSY mom of 4, soccer mom, Primary President, car pooler, enjoys a monthly girls night out, yet her delicious bits of free time are spent in her sewing room ...mostly quilting! :)
We have 13 grandchildren with the oldest being 12 and #14 is on the way!
And I also love to watch the Cooking shows on Saturday and even on other days of the week. Kelsy Nixon is making Utah proud!
Well it is fun to say Hi! You have an adorable family growing up, right here in blogland ~♥

  35. I am still here too. I considered culinary arts as well, but did photography. What I really should have done is something in sewing, but I were to go back, I would do family and consumer science.
I have a very bad habit of collecting supplies for hobbies and not really doing the hobby. For example, I have tons of scrapbook paper, but I don't really scrapbook anymore....tons of fabric. I always buy fabric with a plan to use it, but hardly get around to it. You get the idea.
I don't mind doing my hair. I just don't like to dry it.
We need to get together soon before the craziness of the holidays sets in.

  36. I remember a few years back finding your blog and loving it!! One thing that stuck is that patchwork initial, which I've yet to try!! Oh, its funny, because just this past weekend I was in an antique shop and saw rolling pins and immediately thought of you and how you hung it above your stove. How's that for a memory?!?!

Me...I have four children{that I want to love Jesus and not screw up}, love to craft, decorate{though it would seem I've gotten a bit lazy lately}, and listen to Christmas music. Started listening on Pandora in September!!
