I think I'm in Fabric Heaven

My mom is a very talented seamstress. She made every dress that I ever wore to a school dance. She made my twin sister's wedding dress.  I've always liked sewing (sort of).  I've worked in a few fabric stores, but never really cared that much about fabric.

Note:  This isn't my stash,  I just wish it was!
Isn't this the prettiest stash of fabric you've ever seen?

But the last couple years................... I get so excited over pretty fabric.  I get jealous when I see other people's pretty stashes of fabric.  Really...............it's ridiculous.   I may or may not have even dream t about fabric a few times.  Well, this fabric definitely got the better of me and my little fabric addiction.   And lucky for me, it came in the mail last week.

Meet.............Ruby,  by Boni and Camille for Moda.   Isn't it pretty!!!  I have big plans for this pretty fabric although it kind of breaks my heart to think about cutting it up.

I've also been working on a project out of this fabric.  This is a line that Basic Grey did for Moda, I really like it too.  It took me like a year to get up the nerve to cut into this one.

I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable with my free hand quilting.   Don't look too close, there are still plenty of mistakes, but.............I'm getting there!

I've also discovered a fun photo editing site called Picnik..    It's worth checking out if your into photography at all.  And for the most part it's free, unless you want to get real fancy with your photo's.  There are a ton of options that are free.

  2. Nicole,

OK. This is going to be a long post too because I got both of your comments on my blog recently and I wanted to respond to both of them, but I couldn't find an email address to contact you with so I will do it here on your blog.

So first, thank you for stopping by my blog and for all your sweet words. Just so you know, I have been following you for a long time now (this wasn't just a recent thing). I have always thought you made such cute stuff and love seeing all of your craftiness on your blog! I LOVE your Glace quilt by the way! It is so pretty (always loved that line of fabric) and congrats on your first MBS tutorial. It's so exciting isn't it?!?

Second, I am not going to the Sewing Summit. I would LOVE to. Just didn't feel like I could fork over the money to go. Are you going?

Third, you asked about how I got going with my pattern company. Well, I just did it on my own (no one approached me to do it). It was just something I really wanted to do so I talked to some people and after about a year or so I finally started selling them! The best thing I did was hire a friend to design my covers for me so they would actually be cute and something people would want to buy (I'm SOOO not a graphic designer) and then I contacted Moda about them. They reviewed them before a committee and decided to pick them up for distribution. I started out with 3 patterns coming out all at the same time and that was a good move too, I think. I also went to some local quilt shops, talk about them on my blog and have an etsy shop. Anyways, if you have more questions you can email me.

Glad we got in contact. Wishing you the best!
