Sorry for the lack of blogging, wait I say that every post! It's been one of those week, 2nd grade programs, strep throat, stitches oh....... and even some sewing! I did a good walk in today with my friend Julie and decided to show off some of the beautiful houses in my neighborhood. Ok, really they are like 4 or 5 blocks of way, is that still considered my neighborhood?
I really wish I knew the history of some of these houses, I'm sure it would be very interesting!

This house is my absolute favorite. Back in December I was able to go on a home tour of it, so click here if you want to see some pictures of the inside.
The outside is just as beautiful as the inside!
It was hard to get good pictures because of all the bushes, I wasn't able to get a picture of the awesome looking barn, someday I'll be gutsy and ask if I can walk around (inside the fenced yard) and take some pictures.
This house is also darling. I'd be watching for it to sell, if I ever thought I could fit my almost family of six into it!
The owners of this house have done a ton of work to it! I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all done. I did hear that during the whole remodeling process, they found letters under the wall paper, could just be a rumor, but a cool story!
This house is cool, a little haunted looking, but still cool. I can't even imagine how much work and money it would take to keep up some of these historic houses!
And of course the cute home of Mimi Sue! She probobly wondered who that weirdo was taking a picture outside of her home this morning. Hope you don't mind Mimi!
Hope you enjoyed the tour!!!
It is true--they found letters up in the ceiling. Someone had built in a drop-cown ceiling and when they were tearing it out, they found them. Old missionary letters, I think.
ReplyDeleteLove the tour! I love historic homes. It looks so green in your neck of the woods. Not only are the houses beautiful, they are framed by beautiful yards.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the beauty and the history of your walk. It looks like Mimi has he sprinkler system in and her lawn is green! Yay for them!
ReplyDeleteMy ancestors colonized Centerville which isn't too far from you. I love driving around and thinking of all they went through.
Happy Mother's day!
I love all the character of those homes. Around here there aren't too many old homes. They always inspire me!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Nora
Gorgeous houses and yards, too! :)

Four pictures from the end of your post is my favorite house!! It's the red brick federal with the trees pretty much covering the lower floors. Beautiful! I'd love an old home like this but you're right, the upkeep would break the budget for sure! Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful neighborhood you live in. I love the older brick homes...there is so much history...and only if those walls could talk!
ReplyDeleteBe Bold, and ask to see the barn. Our sweet office couple went to ask to take pictures of a wonderful yard they admired. When they went to the door it was the beginning of a friendship and many other visits, along with a gift of the Book of Mormon. I just loved hearing them tell the story.
ReplyDeleteYou just never know where an act will end up.
Have a Lovely Day~

Those houses are so beautiful. I too, would love to know their history.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful houses! The 2nd house, was the original house to Governor Blood. The Orange Brick victorian is next door to my Aunt (who passed a few years ago) and cousin who still lives there. My ancestors settled that area so I know it very well. It is one area that I would love to live in someday, but I know with home prices it will be someday far off.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly where those houses are and have loved 'stalking', I mean touring your neighborhood and admiring the homes! Thank for the lovely tour! You've inspired me to take some pictures of the historical homes from my hometown in Wyoming, the next time I visit it.
ReplyDeleteWow! You have some fabulous historic homes in your "neighborhood"! How lucky you are that you get to enjoy them on your walks!
ReplyDeleteNeat neat neat! I love older homes. Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteLet me know when you want to walk around Lorraines yard. She wouldn't mind, in fact she'd probably make us some lemonade. The haunted house just sold to people who live right next to the tabernacle. Can't wait to see what they do to it. Did you know that yellow house with the green shutters used to be ours? We lived in it before we built our new one. Cute post and have a wonderful mother's day. Mimi
ReplyDeleteThank you for the walking tour. I love older homes. They are loaded with a persona, (for lack a better word) that a new home lacks.....(truly, maybe it's ghosts! LOL.... smiling) I can only dream of yards like they have....And don't you love Mimi's red door? ♥
ReplyDeleteI want to come take a tour of your neighborhood. Everything is so new here in CA that it would be nice to see some buildings with history.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to share a picture of Kay Wilde's house - it's not a large victorian, but a small english cottage - my favorite in the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you live? I am in WJ.
ReplyDeleteI love Centerville and all the old stone houses there, would love to own one someday but after living in a house built in the 50's and all the repairs it needed, I don't know if I would ever be able to get my husband to go for an even older house LOL.
