With a new baby on the way we decided it was time to do a little room swapping, and ever since we moved here we have desperately needed new carpet. The kids rooms were the worst it was this awful cream color that no matter how many times I clean it still looked really bad. We did all of this a couple months ago, but I've hardly hung anything on the walls so I haven't blogged about it. But, I'm just going to give in and then when they are a little more decorated I'll blog about it again!
Here is my daughters room before. People, I don't know what I was thinking painting it yellow. I love yellow, but can I just tell you how hard it is to find a decent yellow!
Notice the pretty stained carpet, nasty isn't it!Here is my daughters room before. People, I don't know what I was thinking painting it yellow. I love yellow, but can I just tell you how hard it is to find a decent yellow!
She also shared this room with her baby brother. That's another reason we decided to do some swapping, he was crawling out of his crib way too much and we were afraid he was going to get hurt.
I tried to pick a color that would work for a girl or boy because when the baby comes this will be his/or her room. My poor daughter we will be moving her once again to the office which after we put a wall up to divide it into two rooms will be her bedroom!
Here is her room now. We moved her to the smaller bedroom down the hall that was her brothers. Now she has her very own room.
Here is my sons room (that is now my daughters) are you confused yet??? Yep, you guessed it, we moved him down the hall to the bigger bedroom.
Now him and his little brother share a room. I still need to make a ragmuffin for my younger son. We were lucky that the place we bought the bed from two years ago still sold it. The quilt was a little more difficult. It had been discontinued so I searched all over the Internet for it and finally found it at a store in Idaho, but they were out of the pillow shams. I need to make them some matching throw pillows or something.

I have to tell you about the cool carpet. It doesn't stain or bleach. We even took a sample home before we bought it and poured grape juice and bleach on it. The bleach did nothing and the grape juice rinsed right out! Hopefully it will be good carpet and last a long time!
I am completely confused about who's room is where, but the after pictures look great! :)
ReplyDeletei found that if you look for "cream" then yellows are easier to stand. our house in provo was a cream called "cowslip" by laura ashley.and i loved it. i'm debating using it in my little girls' room! oh and a big fat congrats on a new baby! woooohoooo! hope you start feeling better!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like really nice carpet. I love looking at house photos. Be sure and post more after they move again...and the nursery for sure!
ReplyDeleteI was a little confused, but I think I got it. Their rooms are going to be great.
ReplyDeleteok where did you get your carpet?? We have the same old dingy carpet and would love to know where you got yours from and what the price range was...
ReplyDeleteThe rooms are looking great. I haven't even thought about doing anything with the room that will be my new baby's. When are you due?
ReplyDeleteI would love to know the brand name of the carpet too. We are looking to get new carpet in our living room and with 3 boys I need something like yours!!
ReplyDeleteI love the paint colors and totally agree with V - about the creams. I love sewing pillows - how fun for you to have a reason.
ReplyDeleteWhat carpet is that?
ReplyDeleteAnd your rooms are great! Makes me want to throw all of our stuff away so that I have that much open floor space!
What kind of carpet did you get? We need new carpet also! Where did you get it?
ReplyDeleteWe have been in our house about 7 months now, and I still need to paint my girls room.
sounds like you have been busy! everything is looking great. how exciting to get new flooring - i'm still holding out hope for myself:)
ReplyDeleteLooks good! I like the boys' beds a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for yellows--I love the yellow that I have in my laundry room. It actually was listed with the whites, but it way too yellow to be white! Crazy!!

The carpet looks great but I think I better come and check it out myself. :) And I really want to see how you divided off that tiny computer room.
ReplyDeleteI am such a Flake! I just ready the post you made about the 10 things. I totally will post one . I am telling you I am doing so much right now and trying to get things in order for me for school to go this Summer session. You know I just went thru switching rooms. Now that Miss Lily is sleeping thru the night I put both girls in the same room. Now I have two messy kids rooms instead of one! LOL Ahh! Such is life with kids!
ReplyDeleteTake Care of yourself! have the hubby rub your feet and sit with some ice cream and a good movie!
Jennifer
I just found your blog. I love the pictures and your fun ideas!
ReplyDeleteNicole: Is your machine a table top one or a long arm? I would love a table top one to do table runners and such but I haven't really looked into them as I need a good machine first. I bought a little Bernette to get me by but the way life is going right now I don't know if I'll be able to upgrade to a Bernina as I originally planned last year. I still have a couple of weeks though and am trying to work overtime but that doesn't seem to be working. Good luck on your class! It sound like fun. I really like what you did with the kids rooms. I remember well having to do that. Our last room switch was when my oldest son moved home. I had moved into his room as my office and he had to move into my teeny office. It's extremely cramped for him but he's getting married in 2-1/2 months anyway so he isn't complaining. My desk is too big and heavy to much very often!
ReplyDeleteThe room swap-a-roos look great! The carpet looks really good, too. I love the colors it has in it. What kind did you go with that has those superpower stain repelers?!? Wow!
ReplyDeleteI heart yellow, also. I painted one of the bedrooms in our basement yellow. I was actually giggling, as I was painting! It's hard to be angry or down in a yellow painted room.
ReplyDeleteWe did some room swapping when I had my baby over a year ago. What I enjoyed most about it, was bossing my husband around! Everyone knows, you don't mess with a pregnant momma. She's always right!
I think I need some of that magic carpet. It looks great!
So Where did you get the magic carpet??? I think we all want to know...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new baby on the way! And I love the quilts on the boys' beds. Dar.Ling.
ReplyDeleteI bet they are loving their new rooms. I love the carpet too!
ReplyDeleteI might need some of that carpet in the basement rec room. Post the kind and where you got it if you please. When you have little kids it's always a bedroom parade unless you have 10 bedrooms to start with...Mimi
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I want to read your blog anymore. You make me want to redecorate everything. Of course, it would probably look much better if I could just keep it clean!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wise mom you are!
ReplyDeleteThe rooms look wonderful and the new colors are awesome. They show off her pretty bedskirt and bedspread beautifully:)
I am new here to your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI love to rearrange furniture and kids rooms. Seeing photos of someone else having done it...well it is almost as refreshing as having done it myself!
Great job by the way!
You have been busy, busy. It all looks great!
