Family Tree

Isn't this just the coolest idea? I can say that because it's not mine. Did I mention how talented and creative my Sister n' law is? Yes she made this family tree.

She brought all the stuff for all the sister n' laws to make one once at a family reunion, but of course mine did not turn out nearly this cute and one of my kiddos broke it on the way home.

She has actually made this with real twiggs and sticks and stuff. First she layed it all out how she wanted it to look. She then glued all the twiggs together and added the leaves (made out of cardstock, and she freehanded the leaves). She then glued the tree onto the background. I love how she framed it in this shadow box. I think I might even try to make another one of these.

At our chuch I used to be in charge of having an activity twice a month with the 8-11 year old girls. We did one of these, not so elaborate, only to the great grandparents, but they turned out pretty cool.

  1. That is very special and you should have one too. That is a great way to have a nice part of the family visible for all to see.

  5. Very cool - I might have to try that... Did she just randomly place the people or did she work her way up the tree, or the branches? (uh... does that make sense?)

  10. That's cute! I like the use of the real twigs. There is a cute family tree that they did as a class at my work. I look at it often and think that I should make something like it. I like the much more natural and neutral effect this one has. How sad that yours got broken, :(
